Fun Temanawa trip

Me and most of my school frends went to TeManawa.
We left school at 9:30am. The bus trip was a bit boring, I sat by none of my friends but by someone who is good at bugging people.

Soon we were at TeManawa. The first thing we did was sit down on some carpet and eat some of our yummy food. We then went to a place in TeManawa where we learnt how to flaxweave a fish and what it means.

Next we went into a room full of mirrors, one was a jally bean hologram.

After that we had some more food for lunch then a couple of mins after, room9 and only room9 went on a scavenger hunt while room12 learntwhat it means and how to flax a fish. I had no sharpened pencils so I just helped people in my group.

Then we were on the bus in a flash. I sat next to Hudson and we both made space for Willie, my best friend. We got back to school just as the bell went.

Te Manawa trip

It was a cold day but there was hardly any rain. When we got to school  it was freezing, it was like jack frost.  When we walked in to the class it was so warm. Then the teacher called  the roll.

Then we had to put some vests on and we went to TeManawa. The first thing we did there was have morning tea we- had to eat very fast because we were late and we had to go and do some weaving. We weaved  ika (fish) .It was pretty hard. We were lucky enough to go to the mirrors.

Then it was lunch time. After we had finished we went on a scavenger hunt.  The hardest thing was finding the three sided thing! After we had finished we went back to school and it was home time.

I had a good day and I learnt  it was not that easy to make a fish out of flax!

A few hours later we met for lunch then we swapped

te manawa trip

On the 20th of May room 9 and 12 went to Te manawa to learn about flax weaving.
We went to a flax weaving session and we made fish out of flax and that was pretty tricky.

Room 12 was not back from the square so room 9 got to go and have a look at the Mirrors and they were fun to play with.

Yay. We could now go to the square and do the scavenger hunt around the square
because room 12 was back. The hunt was hard but fun and the whole day was amazing.

Hi my name is Alex and my class and I went to Te Manawa.

At Te Manawa my class and I did some weaving with flax, but before that we had a man talk to us about fibre and things that are made out of flax and how strong flax can be. When we got to weave we all made a lovely fish! After we made the fish we got to cut shapes on the fins.

After that we had lunch with room 12 then room 9 did a scavenger hunt in the Palmerston North
square. In the square it was hard to find everything because the square s such a big place.

I'm sure everybody learnt something interesting on this trip.

My favourite bit was the fish making `

Te manawa, awesome trip

On 20th May room 9 travelled on a bus to the awesome Te Manawa Museum.

The first thing we did there was have morning tea. After that we did flax weaving and we had to make a fish; it was pretty hard but I still did it.

Then we were lucky enough to go to the mirror room. One made me short, one made me really tall, one made me fat. Miss McFarlane yelled out "That's enough. Let's go and have lunch" then everybody said ohhh.

In a while we had to do the scavenger hunt. There were some hard questions. One of the hardest questions was to find a thing that is angelic but I still answered it. After that we went inside.
In a while we walked outside to get on the bus. And then we left out of Palmerston and got back to school.
By the time we got there it was home time. It was a awesome day and I had great time at Te Manawa. I had learnt how to weave flax and make a fish.

On  Tuesday, 40 lucky student's got to go to Te Papa.

At Te Papa we saw a giant frozen squid that was in a glass cage. We also got to watch a 3D movie on the squid catching fish but it looks like it's going to catch and eat you!

Also I learnt that there is a giant ''plate'' under every volcano and when the plate gets deep enough  it then splits and it makes the volcano erupt.

There was a huge whale skeleton on the roof and I couldn't believe it was not it's actual size!

While we were there we had a race to see which team could find out the most information about Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and what damage weather can cause.

We saw lots of other exciting cool stuff  but  I can't name it all!

LEST WE FORGET

We have been learning about the ANZACS because they fought for our Country and they helped Britain fight.

ANZACS stands for Australian New Zealand Army Corps!

World war 1 started by one murder.

It was called the Great war because people thought it was so terrible that it could never happen again.

People joined the army because they thought it would be cool to be in the war but when they got there they were wrong.

The ANZACS were planning to take the TURKS by surprise but since the army was in a hurry and given the wrong orders they went to the wrong beach.

Room 9 made ANZAC  biscuits because we found out that the ANZACS had to have food rations. A lot of food  had already gone off while the shipment was on its way to the ANZACS, so they made a special biscuit that wouldn't go off on the way to the ANZACS.
